A very fine George III Toothpick Box made in Birmingham in 1796 by Samuel Pemberton.
The Toothpick Box is of narrow rectangular form with rounded ends. The cover is engraved with sunburst design and floral motifs at each end in semi circles. The centre displays a vacant cut cornered cartouche.
The sides are beautifully engraved with diamond motifs interspersed with flowerheads. The base is also decorated with sunburst design and a central flowerhead in a cartouche. The interior is inset with a mirror and is velvet lined.
