This Uzbek silk velvet ikat purse dates to the late 19th century. It is a delightful example of ikat weaving, which was in its heyday in the second half of the century. Velvet ikat was particularly valuable even at the time it produced.
This textile is in excellent condition. The velvet covers both sides of the bag, which is lined with original Russian printed cotton.
Tassels made of silk in the same colours as the velvet complete the small bag.
This is a real jewel.
