A very decorative antique Ushak carpet from Western Anatolia which was one of the largest rug production areas since the Ottoman Empire.  Beautiful soft colours on this piece, soft pinks, greens and pale blues.  Often younger Ushaks or Oushak rugs will be rich red in colour and use bolder geometric designs.  This good condition Oushak rug has a good wool pile throughout the majority of the carpet, with only a few lower areas of pile, still extremely durable and decorative. Dating from the 1920's a wonderful attractive carpet which would suit a traditional or contemporary room.

Please request a home visit to see this antique rug in situ or visit our barn showroom in Crondall, Surrey.  We love to travel and would be very happy to show you this carpet at home along with many more carpets to see which best suits your home.

Oushak or Ushak carpets and their history.......Ushaks were woven in Western Anatolia which was one of the largest rug production areas since the Ottoman Empire.  Their designs tend to be more open than Persian rugs and soft dyes are not uncommon.  Often younger Ushaks or Oushaks will be rich red in colour and use bolder geometric designs.  An Ushaks construction is always quite coarse and never fine like a Persian carpet, this is partly what makes them so interesting.  They are extremely popular with the best interior designers in the UK and overseas.  This Anatolian carpet has an almost contemporary feel to it and would work in a modern space as well as traditional.  We clean every carpet before offering it for sale and make sure the ends and fringes are secured.  A decorative antique carpet ideal for a drawing room, dining room or even a bedroom.  Their soft tones can compliment most interiors and has increased their value and popularity over recent years.
