An Urn Shaped Mustard Pot made in London in 1808.
The Mustard Pot is modelled in a very rare Classical urn form. The Pot stands on a square pedestal foot, which rises to a round urn shaped body with reeded rim. The front of the main body is engraved with a contemporary Crest. The high domed cover terminates in a ball finial and the scroll handle is decorated with a reeded band. The inside of the main body displays very fine interior gilding. The Mustard Pot does not have a maker's mark, however displays the other marks clearly in the foot and the sterling mark on the cover. The lack of the maker's mark is seen sometimes when a parcel of items was sent to the assay office for marking, however the rare design is the desirable element.
