About the object

A whitewood writing box with a print of Penshurst Castle, Church and Village, Kent. The print was engraved by Henry Adlard from a drawing by landscape painter, George Sidney Shepherd. It was originally produced for  'England's Topographer', a series of Kent views. The interior is partitioned and contains two glass inkwells with covers.
