A twin compartment Tunbridge Ware tea caddy veneered in rosewood with perspective cubes to the lid and with a floral mosaic border to the frieze. The interior with two lidded compartments. This caddy is a rare labelled example from Tunbridge Wells' makers Boyce, Brown & Kemp. The firm were primarily wholesalers and very rarely labelled their work. Only the second labelled example we have owned in over thirty years.
An identifying feature of some of the work from Boyce, Brown & Kemp is the use of long rectangular tesserae as a background to floral borders etc.
Circa 1873-1916.
