About the object

A hexagonal single compartment tea caddy veneered in coromandel with perspective cubes to the lid, a floral border to the frieze and the interior with one lidded compartment.

The small proportions of this caddy are usually associated with 18th century designs and Thomas Barton appears to have been the only Tunbridge Ware maker to adopt it. A circular Barton label is on the base.
