A wedge shaped Tunbridge Ware stationery box by the sought after maker, Robert Russell. The lid with a central motif of Russell's distinctive style of marquetry, which was not used by any other maker. The frieze is inlaid with a continuous border of Russell marquetry on the front and sides.
The interior is fitted with compartments covered in original paper (worn), which is also used on the base of the box.
