About the object

A triple stamp box with interior partitions and an applied stamp marking the coronation of King George VI on 12th May 1937.

Unusually this box is also inlaid with Prince of Wales Feathers motifs, possibly suggesting that it was originally intended for the coronation of Edward VIII, who abdicated before he was crowned.

Attributed to Thomas Littleton Green of Rye.
