A whitewood spool box with a rare print entitled The Boulevard Margate  This very clear print gives a view of the interior of the Boulevard, which was also known as Levey's Bazaar. It was built by the watchmaker, Emanuel Levy in 1820, remaining open until 1894.

The print provides interesting details of the seemingly lavish interior, indicating just how important Margate had become as a visitor attraction in the early 19th century.

Circa 1820-30.
