A whitewood pencil box with simulated rosewood decoration to the pin hinged lid and an applied paper label 'A Present from Hastings'.
During the first half of the 19th century Hastings had several active traders in Tunbridge Ware, including Edmund Nye, who operated from premises in Castle Street between 1826 & 1835. George Wise Senior was also known to have catered for visitors to the town with boxes featuring prints of Hastings.
