A very rare Tunbridge Ware lace netting box veneered in rosewood and inlaid with miniature parquetry and a stylised floral motif to the lid. The drop front opens to reveal a ratchet sprung spool holder to enable the work to be secured. This is flanked by two small drawers below a storage compartment. The whole box is weighted, making it suitable for tension to be applied, whilst the netting is in progress.
Circa 1840-45.
