A rosewood veneered glove box with a border of large vandykes to the front frieze and a panel of 'marbled' veneer to the lid.
This rare technique, which was made by compressing and gluing shavings of veneer to form a block, was only used in Tunbridge Ware for a relatively short period and is usually attributed to George Wise Senior in the 1830's and 1840s.
Circa 1840.
