THIS EXCEPTIONALLY CARVED ENGLISH TUDOR OAK GREAT HALL CUPBOARD HAS A FRONT ARRANGEMENT OF TWO CUPBOARD DOORS ABOVE A PAIR OF DRAWERS WITH CENTRAL CUPBOARD BELOW.
THE TOP TWO DOORS ARE CARVED WITH EXOTIC BIRDS FEEDING ON A BRANCH WITH BERRIES AND ACORNS, ABOVE A PAIR OF FANTASTICALLY CARVED DRAWERS WITH UNDER CUT CARVING, THE LEFT SIDE DRAWER HAS TWO DRAGONS FLANKING A CENTRAL SHIELD BEARING THE SACRED MONOGRAM IHS, THE DRAGONS HAVE BABY DRAGONS ON EACH OF THEIR TAILS, THE WHOLE ENTWINED WITH A LEATHER STRAP/BELT TYPE CARVING.THE RIGHT HAND DRAWER FRONT AGAIN CARVED WITH DRAGONS FLANKING A CENTRAL SHIELD BUT THIS TIME THE DRAGONS LOOK TO BE ENTWINED AND CONSUMED BY THE FOLIAGE. THE LOWER CENTRAL DOOR IS CARVED WITH PIERCED GOTHIC TRACERY CENTRED BY LOZENGE SHAPED FLOWER HEADS, THE TWO FLANKING PANELS AGAIN CARVED WITH THE SAME GOTHIC TRACERY. BOTH SIDES EACH WITH SIX PANELS OF LINENFOLD CARVING.
