THIS OUTSTANDING SCULPTURE IS STUNNING IN BOTH ITS QUALITY AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL, IT DEPICTS ST JOHN AS A HERMIT DRESSED IN SHEEPSKIN, IN HIS LEFT HAND HE HOLDS THE HOLY BOOK AND UPON IT IS THE LAMB OF GOD.
THE FACIAL EXPRESSION IS FULL OF EMOTION. THE SCULPTURE RETAINS ALMOST ALL OF ITS ORIGINAL POLYCHROME DECORATION.
