A very fine sterling silver model (.960 purity, normal silver standard .925) yacht made circa 1950 by Seki Takehiko of Japan. The yacht is mounted on a wooden plinth and it is excellent condition throughout. The detail is excellent and the silver has a lovely matt finish with some of the parts of the ship gilded to provide contrast. The yacht was made by master silversmith Seki Takehiko. Takehiko was born in Chiba prefecture in 1908 and moved in 1922 to Tokyo where he became an apprentice to Tajima Katsuyuki. He then perfected his craftsmanship under master Kosaka Munehiro until 1936 when he started as a master silversmith on his own.
