This prominent and striking figure shows St George on Horseback, spear in hand, slaying the dragon. The figure is well colored with colorful quality enamels and modeling.
The depiction of the dragon's tail is very impressive, swirling around to the underside of the galloping horse. This piece is one of the rarer versions of this popular model of the patron saint of England.
Dated: 1820 Staffordshire England.
Dimensions: 12 inches high.
Current Condition: Spear replaced, horse's tail restored.
Literature: cf. Staffordshire Figures Volume 2 chapter 62.
