This pair of Staffordshire pottery figures show a couple of cows standing on green bases against bocage. The cows are sponge decorated and well modeled, the bocage embellished with flowers of various colors, and the base has two large flower heads with tufts of grass.
A feature on the right-hand side model of the pair shows a snake biting the hind leg of the cow, who is looking down with interest at the intrusion. These charming pair made at the Tunstall group in the early 19th century period England.
