Square shape Mahal carpet.

This piece is associated with a group of carpets commissioned in west Persia during the Late 19th-Early 20th century to complement western furnishing tastes. Appreciated for their unique grand scale  proportions, quiet formality and soft colours they are often seen gracing grand houses in Europe and the UK yet are versatile enough to complement contemporary settings.

This handsome example has a pleasant terracotta field that complements the harmonious vegetable dyed colours. The creative drawing is spacious in relation to its size, framed by a wide border. A decorative carpet to complement a wide variety of settings, rare in this square shape.
