A Small Whalebone Fid.

A small, pleasing, sailor's rope-splicing fid, an important tool to the 19th century sailor, second only to his knife.

Of good surface and colour with a cut line detail at the fat end; a curious, perhaps accidental saw-cut at the centre of one side.

English or American circa 1850.

11 inches long.
