A Small George I Walnut Bureau Bookcase Circa 1725.

In two parts, the upper arched section with a single shaped original mirror plate, having on either side applied pilasters, the small central section of one sliding to reveal the key hole.

Opening to reveal an upper section with pigeonholes, a central cupboard door with drawers below.

The richly veneered fall front of the lower section with a small bookrest, and opening to reveal a velvet lined writing surface, with valanced pigeonholes above straight internal drawers.

To the exterior section with one long drawer below the fall, above a fine waist moulding and two short and two long drawers, the whole raised on an ovulo moulding and tall bracket feet.

The veneered surfaces where appropriate are cross banded and herringboned, and the lobed escutcheons and ring handles all original. 

All the drawers in both the upper and lower sections including the main drawers to the lower carcase have very fine drawer linings of Virginia walnut, a feature only usually found with internal fittings.
