Alexander Baring spent much of his life enjoying the fruits of his industrious banking ancestors.
Raised to nobility as Baron Ashburton in 1835, these fine wine coolers bare his new Arms, with appropriate bear with ring collar (Baring), surmounted by Barons coronet.
These Old Sheffield Plate wine coolers are almost certainly the creation of Matthew Bolton's workshop. With applied silver handles and full armorials by Robert Garrard, 1835.
