A delicate and fine antique silk Fereghan rug woven in the late 19th century, sublime gentle tones of purple, yellow and gentle pinks, hints of blue can also be seen.  This colour palette is a typical array of dyes for these elegant silk rugs from Fereghan (Farahan) in Western Persia.  The silk glistens beautifully when the light catches it.  Ideal to be used hung on the wall as a work of art as it is, or on the floor in a low traffic area such as bedroom.  The condition is very good indeed with only minimal minor preservation restoration in places, please do view all the additional images.  A rare and beautiful silk Fereghan rug and very collectable.

Fereghan carpets are unlike their neighbours Sarouk which are more formal often using an elaborate central medallion. Fereghan weavers preferred floral motifs of shrubs and vines using more green dyes and hints of yellow.  Fereghan or Ferahan rugs were woven in the Arak district which was once the capital of Persia.  They wove a variety of designs with Sarouk-Fereghan rugs more classical in their structure and rugs from Malayer and Fereghan using palmettes, shrubs, geometric motifs.

Request a home visit to see this exquisite antique silk rug at home, you can select an ideal day and time that is convenient for you.  Travelling all over the UK, London, Surrey, Hampshire and Europe since 1990.
