An extremely rare set of twelve Hester Bateman silver Old English pattern George III period dessert forks made in London in 1784 (one 1783).

The forks are in superb condition and each bears the incuse head of George III ( which was first used in the latter part of 1784 to show that tax of sixpence per ounce had been paid-one of the forks was made in 1783 and is without the Kings Head (no tax payable that year).

Hester Bateman forks especially dessert forks are particularly rare unlike spoons by her workshop which are reasonably plentiful.

These come from a private collection along with some other forks by Hester Bateman that we have for sale -a rare opportunity.
