A Set of Four George II Antique English Silver Candlesticks.

Engraved on base and bobeche with an Earl's coronet, Garter motto and griffin passant crest for Daniel Finch (1689-1769), 8th Earl of Winchelsea and 3rd Earl of Nottingham. 

Elected a Member of Parliament at 21, Finch moved to the House of Lords on succeeding to the Earldom in 1730. He served as Comptroller of the royal household from 1725-30, First Lord of the Admiralty from 1742-4, and Lord President from 1765-6.

He was made a Knight of the Garter in 1752, and was one of the founders and governors of London's Foundling Hospital.
