Set of Five Brass Curtain Rails Removed From Downing Street.

A superb set of five brass curtain poles /rails by repute and ticketed to have been removed from Downing Street (On Her Majesty's Service).

English Circa 1920-1950.

Extremely good quality, of tubular form with finely cast gilt artichoke end finials having corded pulleys, retaining their original gilt brackets and pulley knobs.

Three examples at 5ft 3 1/2 inches (161cm), one example at 5ft 8 1/2 inches (173cm) and one at 5ft 10 1/2 inches (179cm), Width / Diameter 3 inches 7.5cm, all bearing the original paper labels indicating they were once part of the furnishings at Downing Street. 

A very rare set of curtain rails of excellent quality with a prestigious provenance. 

Offered in good original untouched condition the brass shows signs of ageing which if desired could be polished but we feel best left with the original patina.
