A set of 12 Antique French Dessert or Side Plates, 1st Standard .950 Silver. The Plates are of Shaped circular form with scroll border, engraved to one side with the crown and sabre for the Maharaja of Baroda.The Maharajah was one of the richest men in India and his house the largest residence in India was four times the size of Buckingham Palace!

Sayaji Rao Gaekwar III, Maharaja of Baroda (1875-1939) until acquired by, Shiri Kirtilal Manilal Mehta (1907-1993) and descent to, Mrs Charu Kishor Mehta (b1943).

Made in 1925 for The Maharaja at the Paris exposition of 1925 which introduced Art Modern to the public now commonly called Art Deco.
