Drawing of a seated nude. No doubt a study for a sculpture taken from life once he had composed a rough Maquette in clay or wax. Dobson’s aim was to find rhythm in the relationship of forms with a resulting sculpture that had quality of stillness or, as he called it, 'static' to engender 'aesthetic emotion'.

Circa 1950
