Of lobed trefoil form, decorated with bamboo prunus and a banded hedge. Other examples of closely related form are known, but this piece seems to be a unique variant with flower heads applied to the coloured handle.
Kakiemon designs at Saint Cloud are relatively uncommon as Chantilly had the exclusive privilege of making porcelain in the Japanese manner.
