An exceptional pair of silkwork pictures with chenile thatch and foliage.

The faces and backgound finely executed in watercolour over the silk support; all retaining excellent colour.

Within the original gilt gesso frames with a running pattern of honey-suckle and lily and with a bright burnished hollow.

French circa 1800.

The images derived from the original works by William Redmore Bigg (British, 1755–1828), published by Thomas Gaugain in 1791.
