19th Century Oak Card Tray.
An attractive Victorian oak card tray, having an angled gallery with cut out decoration, a rounded rim and a good colour and patination. Card Trays were used to receive visiting cards and then presented to the master of the house, announcing the arrival of a person by appointment. They can be made of various materials, including silver ones for the aristocracy.
