19th Century Scandinavian Baby's Birch Rattle.
A well carved and most unusual 19th century Scandinavian baby's rattle, made from a single piece of birch wood. The cylindrical body has a caged window within six vertical carved columns enclosing two loose balls. The top, with a chain link, has a square padlock type section carved with hearts and the end has a carved cross for good fortune.
