A most attractive and desirable mid 18th century four section Lignum Vitae Coffee Grinder, which is of urn shaped form. The top domed section, surmounted by a tall finial, unscrews revealing the spindle for a folding handle, which is housed in the bottom section for travelling purposes. The grinding steel mill, which is in working order, is within the third section and the whole is seated on a short stem on a stepped and rounded foot. The lid's interior screw thread and the base have been restored and it has an excellent colour and patination.
