A most attractive 18th century Swedish burr wood mortar, having a contemporary fruitwood pestle, which has an unusual metal collar and brass end. The mortar, with a protruding rim and central half round band, terminates in a stepped and vertical foot. It has a most excellent colour and grain, as often found in burr wood items, with a good patination.
