A fine and rare early to mid 18th Century Masur Birch Lidded Pot, having an attractive and intricate ring turned fitted lid. The body, of stepped and bulbous form, has a ring turned base. It is of the Baroque Period, with an excellent figured grain found in masur birch, sometimes called Karelian birch, where the trees are found in the autonomous area of Finland near the border of Russia. It has a lovely colour, grain and patination.
