Swedish Oak Bentwood Box.

A well used circular oak lidded bentwood box, decorated throughout with punch work designs. The body and lid has an overlap construction, held secure by threaded partially replaced woven cane. The earlier bentwood boxes were made of oak, as in this good example, whereas the later 19th century ones were made of pine.
