An attractive folk art Romanian birch shepherd's cup or dipper, all chip carved from a single block of wood. These were often carved by hill shepherds while attending their sheep during the summer months. The edges have a chip carved design surrounding a repetitive carved panel to each side. The handles are carved with pierced diamond decoration and the whole has a an excellent honey colour and patination.
