An early 19th century drop weight mouse trap in oak and fruitwood, as illustrated in Pinto plate 175. The oak superstructure is above a solid fruitwood block, which is released by an arm with a string and wedge attached to a trigger when the mouse enters to feed, and therefore releases the trigger. These items are quite rare these days and we have not been offered one for several years. The whole has a pleasing colour with some historic worm holes and retains a patination.
