An interesting and well made Victorian hog scraper, having tin scrapers united by an oak handle. These items were used for removing the hair from pigs' hides when butchering, so that the hide could be treated and used for the manufacture of items, such as suitcases etc. One sometimes comes across tin candlesticks with the same base, and they are known as hog scraper candlesticks.
