A most useful turn of the 20th century mahogany cased travelling chess set, with a complete set of red and white bone pieces, all with a protruding stem, that fit into the wooden chequered board and when the lid is closed they all remain in place, so the game can be continued. The mahogany case, with cut dovetails, is in good condition and a pleasing colour, retaining a patination.
