A pleasing late 18th century lignum vitae two section pounce pot, having a saucer top of traditional form that unscrews to reveal the receptacle for the pounce. The baluster body has moulded and turned decoration, and a historical closed vertical shrinkage crack. The top rim has also some restored minor chipping. The whole, in heart and sap wood, has an excellent colour and good patination.
