An interesting Welsh rustic shaped spoon, often referred to as an invalid spoon (see Treen for the Table by Levi on page 121). The elongated bowl, with a S shaped handle, has carved Roman Numerals II. It is also very unusual in having a hook on the reverse, which we have never come across before on this type of spoon. It is carved from a single piece of wood and has a warm colour and well used patination.

Welsh Circa 1800
