An extremely fine 19th century fruitwood Welsh love spoon, having a rounded top with a red wax inlaid plant in a pot, surrounded by a wax line and intermittent chip carving, with a decorative shaped horizontal panel below. There is a caged handle that contains three balls. It has inlaid wax decoration on a short stem above an elongated bowl. The back is carved with initials G.W. and dated 1866, infilled with red wax. The whole has an excellent colour and patination.
