An interesting laburnum wood thread container of egg shaped form, on a slender concave stem and circular stepped foot, having a top half that is a fitted lid. The interior has a fixed central spindle that supports a circular spool divided in three sections for coloured cottons or silks. The whole has a dark rich colour and good patination.
