An excellent quality stag's horn handled silver mounted steel, having a blade inscribed Rodgers Cutlers to her Majesty. John Rodgers were founded in Sheffield in 1724 and in 1800 was renamed Joseph Rodgers & Sons, a well regarded firm for making cutlery and pocket knives etc. The firm continued till 1971, when it was purchased by George Wostenholm & Son Ltd. and eventually stopped trading in 1983. Both silver mounts are stamped Rodgers J.R. and both hallmarked Sheffield 1895.
