A mahogany Welsh knitting sheath, having a brass end above cross hatched and stepped decoration, with a shaped cut for the cow band and initialled in carved capital letters on the back E.S. A similar example is illustrated in the reference book, Knitting Sticks and Sheaths, A History, by Dr. Ian McFeeters on page 28. The whole has a good colour and patination.
