A rare French hand held tin toleware travelling candle lantern, having its original glass liner and twin folding handles on the reverse. The top rises up to allow the heat to escape, and the twin doors open to expose the candle, which have transfers depicting extensive views. Both views are inscribed with titles translated as: the Panten Breach in the Canton (area) of Glarus and the Lower Glacier of the Grundelwald. Although slightly rubbed and damaged on the base, it is in exceptionally good condition.
