About the object

An unusual fruitwood spice grinder, having a fixed wooden thumb piece handle. The interior consists of a serrated wooden ball, which is attached to the exterior handle, and when turned revolves round. The body, of baluster form, is seated on a shallow circular foot. The whole has a pleasing medium colour and retains a patination.
