A most unusual pair of fine quality ebonised mahogany and bone long whist markers, each having revolving discs and a well carved revolving hand pointing to the numbers. These were used to count the points at the game of whist. The scoring system evolved over the years, until the beginning of the 19th century the winning team was the first to 10 points (long whist), and later on the 19th century the winning team was the first to win two games of 5 points (short whist). The pair are in good condition.
