A good quality mahogany cased explorer's pocket compass of the Georgian Period, having a lid held in place by two angular brass catches, which opens to expose the circular compass card divided into degrees and also showing all the points of the compass. The blue steel needle is held in place by a small brass stop arm when the lid is closed. The compass is a lovely item and is in fine and original condition.
